Mediating Employment Cases:
Winning Strategies and Ethical Considerations

Wednesday | November 17, 2004 | 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Boston Bar Association
Conference Center
16 Beacon Street
Boston, MA 02108

Sponsored by the BBA Labor & Employment Law Section.

Successful advocacy in mediation requires unique skills and preparation. Hear from veteran mediators about what works and what doesn't work in mediations; how to deal with logjams; how to prepare a client for mediation; how to explore a client’s interests as well as the other side’s; and more. Also learn to identify ethical issues that arise, what rules of conduct are applicable, and how to handle new dilemmas that traditional canons of ethics may not fully address in the mediation setting.

The seminar will include an in-depth, mock mediation of an employment discrimination case and an interactive, facilitated group discussion building on the simulation.
