The New Wetlands Regulations
The New Buffer Zone General Permit and Adjudicatory Rule Changes

Thursday | March 3, 2005 | 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Boston Bar Association
Conference Center
16 Beacon Street
Boston, MA 02108

Why Attend:

Early in 2005, the Department of Environmental Protection will begin implementation of significant changes to its wetlands regulations and adjudicatory hearing regulations. Attend this seminar to understand how wetlands practice before local conservation commissions and the DEP is likely to be affected by the new regulatory changes. Attendees will also learn about issues practitioners are likely to confront as a result of the amendments.

Topics Will Include:

  • How, if at all, will the changes affect the number of wetlands filings?
  • Will the new regulations cut down on the number and duration of abusive and non-meritorious appeals?
  • How will the new regulations affect the way landowners design and present their projects?
  • How will the new rules interact with home rule bylaws and other development constraints to produce better, or faster, results?
  • How should practitioners advise their clients so as to take advantage of the new rules, or avoid their potential pitfalls?
  • What new issues are likely to arise and occupy the time of the ALJ’s and the lawyers who practice in this area?
