Current technological advances have provided employers with new surveillance tools to monitor employee activities and use of company resources while at work. This program will discuss the rights of employers and employees in this new environment, as well as the areas of the law that provide the possibility for privacy protection.
Attendees will learn what technologies employers are using to monitor employees through a live demonstration by a leading corporate investigations professional. Panelists will discuss hot topics such as record retention and disclosure, blogs, video surveillance, and telephone and web monitoring.
Other topics will include:
- The state of the law on privacy in the workplace and pending legislation
- Ethical implications and pitfalls of employee monitoring
- How to advise corporate clients on drafting effective policies
- How to effectively represent parties whose rights to privacy are at risk
- Implications under the National Labor Relations Act and other legislation
