Congress changed the rules governing MassHealth coverage of nursing home care as part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.  Massachusetts has implemented these changes, but done little to clear up their pervasive ambiguities.  This program will explain the changes, their ambiguities, the latest interpretations by the Massachusetts Office of Medicaid, and how to advise clients under the new and shifting rules.

Topics will include:

  • The new transfer rules
  • The home equity restrictions
  • Treatment of annuities
  • Old planning tools that still work
  • New planning methods
