Sentencing Advocacy 2007 Thursday, March 15, 2007 Sponsor Federal sentencing practice is constantly changing in response to the Supreme Court's decision in U.S. v. Booker. Recent Supreme Court cases such as Cunningham v. California, Rita v. U.S. and Claiborne v. U.S. continue to raise questions about whether even widely accepted practices pass constitutional muster, and suggest that even more changes to federal sentencing procedures may be forthcoming. Join a panel of federal judges, prosecutors, public and private defense attorneys, and probation officers as they discuss recent Supreme Court precedent and pending cases, the practice of sentencing in the District of Massachusetts and where things are likely to go in the future. The panel will also offer tips for practicing in this new environment. Specific Topics will include:
Member of the U.S. District Court, D. of Mass. (invited) Amy M. Baron-Evans, Esq. Iris Golus Allyson L. Lorimer Crews Sara Noonan, Esq. (Program Co-Chair) Michael B. Galvin, Esq. (Program Co-Chair) |
