Monday May 3, 2010
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Sponsored by:  The Privacy Law Committee of the Intellectual Property Section and the Health Law Section

Several new and far-reaching legislative requirements related to the privacy and security of personal information have come into effect in the last several months.  If a company collects or has access to financial information, health information, or the personal information of a Massachusetts resident, it is now subject to regulation by one or more of the panelists.

This CLE will give you a chance to hear from and speak to regulators in charge of enforcing the new HIPAA/HITECH requirements, the new Mass. Security Regulations, and the FTC Red Flags Rule and other FTC enforcement initiatives.  This is not intended to be a basic description of the statutes.  Rather, it is designed to give you insight into enforcement priorities and approaches of these regulators, with the goal of helping you guide your clients through the compliance process and prioritize improvements to their business processes and compliance programs.

Specific topics will include the enforcement priorities and approaches of:

  • HIPAA/HITECH
  • Mass. Security Regulations
  • FTC Red Flags Rule and other FTC initiatives

There will be time allotted for Q&A after each topic.
