Work Is Just One Part of BBA Summer Jobs Experience

Each summer the BBA’s Summer Jobs Students are placed in law firms and offices across Boston for paid summer internships, thanks to a partnership between the BBA, Private Industry Council and Mayor’s Office. However, the program doesn’t stop there. Throughout the course of the summer the students participate in a variety of enrichment programs that promote civil engagement, introduce students to the courts and help students develop life skills. The BBA’s M. Ellen Carpenter Financial Literacy Program is a core element of the student’s summer education.

BBA Public Service Manager Sonia Shah explains: “The Summer Jobs students have been part of the Financial Literacy program since the very beginning as one of the pilot groups.  Integrating financial literacy into the program teaches the students what to do with the money they are earning and provides them with tangible life skills to take with them once the program ends.”

With the recruitment process for Summer Jobs Program still underway, the financial literacy sessions during the summer will expand the program to at least 53 additional students.
