Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Locke Lord, Nixon Peabody, and Nutter McClennen & Fish and Barclay and Damon have volunteered to accept referrals from active duty military members, veterans, and their families through the BBA Military & Veterans Legal Help Line. The commitment of these four BBA Sponsor Firms is especially important as the clients that they are helping do not qualify for traditional free legal services, but cannot afford the fees of a lawyer. We are proud of this partnership that will help expand assistance to those who have served our nation. We asked these firms why they are participating:

Locke Lord LLP

"Community service is one of the cornerstone values at Locke Lord, and supporting veteran-related programs lies very close to our heart. We believe in finding practical ways of helping former military members, whether through legal representation, charitable donations, or internships to assist in the transition to the civilian workforce. All the great men and women who have served our country deserve the very best legal counsel, and our attorneys and staff are proud to volunteer for this worthy cause."

Nixon Peabody

"Our Boston attorneys are proud to participate in the BBA’s Military Helpline, as part of our firm-wide Veterans’ Signature Project, to which we’ve donated 2,500 pro bono hours in the past two years, assisting numerous veterans and veterans organizations. We feel it is important to give back to the men and women who so bravely risk their lives to protect our country, and often come back to face a myriad of legal issues."

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius

"Morgan Lewis’s award winning veterans pro bono practice is focused on assisting our nation’s veterans obtain the benefits to which they are entitled because of disabilities resulting from their military service to our country. As a firm, we believe that we have an obligation to give back to our communities and we are honored to use our legal talents and skills to help the men and women who have given so much to our country. We are thrilled to expand our outreach to veterans through this new initiative with the Boston Bar Association."

Barshak, Edward

Nutter McClennen & Fish

"Nutter is pleased to partner with the BBA on this important initiative. Supporting the men and women who have served our country and their families is something we believe in and to which we are deeply committed. In addition to many hours of legal representation that we have dedicated through the Veterans Consortium, the BBA’s Military Legal Help Line will allow us to serve more veterans and assist them with their unique legal issues."

Barshak, Edward

Barclay Damon, LLP

"Barclay Damon's Boston office is excited to join the BBA's efforts to support our nation's veterans and military families by participating in the BBA's Military Helpline program. Each of Barclay Damon's offices works in their local communities to fulfill the firm's commitment to supporting those in need by providing legal services through pro bono activities. The men and women who have served to protect our country, and their families, deserve the support of those in a position to provide it, and Barclay Damon is therefore pleased to be in a position to provide legal services to those who have served our country."

The Boston Bar Association has developed several unique programs that provide volunteer attorneys with a number of different opportunities to help the men and women who have served our country.
