The Boston Bar Association has developed several unique programs that provide volunteer attorneys with a number of different opportunities to help the men and women who have served our country.
If you are a military service member, a veteran, or a family member of either group, looking for legal assistance, please call the Military Legal Help Line housed at the Boston Bar Lawyer Referral Service at 617-742-0625 or 1-800-552-7046. BBA Lawyer Referral Service - Military Legal Helpline
As part of the Boston Bar Association's ongoing efforts to provide crucial legal assistance to military personnel and veterans, the Boston Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service will now house the Military Legal Help Line. This line was established to connect veterans, military personnel, and their families with lawyers and other legal resources appropriate to their needs. The service will refer callers to qualified attorneys offering reduced fee and pro bono legal assistance or the appropriate government or non-profit agency. All attorneys on the Lawyer Referral Service who have elected to take these cases are trained to assist with the unique legal issues faced by members of the military and their families.
Recently, four BBA sponsor firms agreed to take cases from the Military Legal Helpline pro bono as part of their firm's initiatives to assist veterans and members of the military. Learn more.
The Boston Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service and the Military Legal Help Line can be reached at 617-742-0625 or 1-800-552-7046. Their website is www.bostonbarlawyer.org.
The U.S. military organizes Yellow Ribbon events to support servicemen and servicewomen preparing for or returning from deployment. As a BBA volunteer lawyer, you will present legal information to groups of service members and their families on topics such as consumer debt & credit, family law, employment matters, estate planning and disability benefits. See what volunteers have to say about participating in these events here.
We are in need of volunteers with legal expertise in areas such as:
• Consumer Debt & Credit
• Domestic relations
• Financial literacy
• Labor and employment
• Trusts and estates
For more information on the BBA Veterans' Initiative, please contact Katie D'Angelo, Public Service Programs Coordinator at 617-778-1914 or email@example.com.
The BBA's efforts in supporting military personnel and veterans are due in large part to the work of the BBA Delivery of Legal Services Section.
A special thanks to those who partner with the BBA to provide support for Veterans, military personnel, and their families:
