Regular Member
A lawyer who either resides or practices inside Route 495. Regular members receive all of the rights and privileges of membership |
Associate Member/Out of State Member
A lawyer who does not reside or practice inside Route 495. Associate members do not have the right to vote or hold office. |
Government Lawyer
A lawyer who is solely employed by a federal or state governmental agency. Government lawyer members receive all of the rights and privileges of membership. |
Law School Faculty
A lawyer who is employed solely and full-time by a law school. Law school faculty receive all of the rights and privileges of membership. |
Legal Services Member
A lawyer who is employed solely and full-time by a legal services agency. Legal services lawyer members receive all of the rights and privileges of membership. |
Life-Time Member
A lawyer who has reached the age of 75 after 25 years as a Boston Bar Association member in good standing. Lifetime members receive all of the rights and privileges of their previous membership category. Lifetime members do not pay dues, but are billed for any Sections they wish to join. You must notify the BBA of your eligibility. Eligibility is not retroactive or automatic. |
Retired/Inactive Lawyer Member
Any member admitted to any U.S. state or territory bar who is: (a) 65 Years or older and retired from the practice of law, or (b) not currently employed in the practice of law in any manner. Retired/Inactive members do not have the right to vote or hold office. |
Affiliated Professional Non-Lawyer Member
A non-lawyer who is employed by a law firm or law department. Affiliated professional members do not have the right to vote or hold office.

Adjunct Non-Lawyer Member
A non-lawyer who is not employed by a law firm or law department. Adjunct members do not have the right to vote or hold office. |
Law Student Member
A student currently enrolled in a law school pursuing a degree in law. A member is only qualified for this category for four years. Law student members do not have the right to vote or hold office.
