Meet the Co-Chairs

Business Transactions Section

Marc D. Mantell

At Mintz Levin, Marc's practice focuses on corporate and securities law matters, primarily for companies engaged in the technology ecosystem. Marc represents private and public companies, investors, underwriters, and other parties in a broad range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and debt financings. This will be his first year as section co-chair.

Elizabeth W. Fraser

A shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, Elizabeth concentrates her practice on advising public and private companies on corporate and securities law matters, public debt and equity securities offerings, private placements of securities, and mergers and acquisitions. She regularly counsels public company boards and management on corporate governance matters, SEC disclosure and reporting obligations, marketplace compliance, executive compensation, director responsibilities and fiduciary duties. She returns this year as section co-chair.


Insurance and Tort Litigation Section

Michael S. Appel

A partner at Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen, Michael has achieved excellent results for his clients in catastrophic personal injury matters. He is widely recognized as one of the nation's top mass-tort lawyers, based on his work pursuing cases against the drug and medical-device industry. He returns this year to serve as section co-chair for the second year.

Nigel Long

Nigel is Corporate Counsel in the Litigation Group of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group. Prior to joining Liberty Mutual as Corporate Counsel, he was Senior Trial Attorney at Lynch & Lynch specializing in complex tort litigation. His trial practice has included a wide variety of subject matters including wrongful death, construction-blasting cases, traumatic brain injuries, severe injury causing paraplegia, as well as defending lawsuits brought against major corporations. This is his first year serving as section co-chair.


Intellectual Property Law Section

Michael H. Bunis

As co-chair of the Choate, Hall & Stewart's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, Michael is a leading litigator with more than 20 years of experience representing technology and life sciences companies in high stakes litigation and other complex IP related disputes. He has been recognized by The Legal 500, Best Lawyers in America and as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer. Mr. Bunis is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. This will be his first year as section co-chair.

Erica L. Han

Erica is a counsel in Ropes & Gray's intellectual property transactions practice group. Erica advises consumer branded product companies in relation to global brand strategy, trademark clearance and prosecution, advertising clearance, and resolution of intellectual property disputes. She is returning to serve as section co-chair for the second year.


Labor & Employment Law Section

Robert A. Fisher

Robert is a partner in the Labor & Employment Department of Seyfarth Shaw LLP's Boston office. He represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, with significant experience handling traditional labor matters on behalf of employers in a wide variety of industries, including higher education, hospitality, technology, and construction. He regularly represents employers before the National Labor Relations Board in representation petitions and unfair labor practices proceedings. This will be his second year serving as section co-chair.

Brian J. MacDonough

A partner at Sherin and Lodgen, Brian concentrates his practice in employment law and executive advocacy. He handles a wide range of matters, including contract negotiation and enforcement, discrimination, whistleblowing, wage and hour issues, and wrongful termination. A trusted advisor to his clients, Brian often works with them throughout their careers as they transition to new opportunities. This will be his first year as section co-chair.
