Choate, Hall & Stewart Attorney Named "Most Admired Insurance Attorney" by Law360

David A. Attisani, co-chair of the Insurance & Reinsurance Group at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, has been selected by Law360 as one of its "10 Most Admired Insurance Attorneys in America" for 2010 for his "uncanny grasp of complex coverage issues" and "desire to be a staunch advocate for his clients." 

According to Law360, "In his representation of national and international cedents and reinsurers ranging from Swiss Reinsurance America Corp. to The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. in litigation and confidential arbitration disputes, Attisani brings a knowledge, intensity, focus and work ethic to each matter that impresses colleagues and adversaries alike."

Attisani now ranks among a select group of 65 lawyers in seven practice areas nationwide who were chosen for this distinction out of a field of 1,016 nominations from in-house counsel, law firms, and practice group heads at the 100 largest law firms in the U.S.  Survey participants were not permitted to nominate attorneys from their own firms.

As co-chair of Choate's internationally recognized Insurance & Reinsurance Group, Attisani directs more than 20 insurance/reinsurance lawyers who represent national and multinational insurers, reinsurers, and intermediaries in complex litigation, arbitration, and bankruptcy proceedings.  Choate has clients in over 25 states across the U.S., and abroad in the UK, France, Switzerland, Bermuda, Barbados, and other offshore locations.

Attisani focuses his practice on reinsurance arbitration and litigation on behalf of reinsurers and cedents, and arbitration and litigation for insurance companies involving coverage disputes regarding financial issues, hazardous waste sites, asbestos, 9/11 losses, archdiocese claims, toxic tort, and breast implants.  Attisani is also a member of Choate’s Executive Committee.

He regularly speaks at conferences on a variety of insurance and reinsurance topics and has served on the faculty at the Excess & Surplus Lines Claims Association, Mealey’s Reinsurance, ARIAS (AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society), ABIR (Association of Bermuda Insurers & Reinsurers), the ABA Insurance Coverage Litigation Midyear Meeting, and the PWC/Hawksmere Reinsurance Congress (Bermuda).

Attisani has also been elected to The International Who's Who of Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers (2005-2010) and to the World’s Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers (2006-2009).  He was selected for Best of the Best USA 2009 in Insurance & Reinsurance, along with only 25 other U.S. industry professionals, and has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer. 

He received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1991 and his B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Williams College in 1987.
