On September 22, 2010 the Boston Bar Association will hold "Take
a Bite: Snack-Size Pro Bono Opportunities That Fit Your
Practice," a networking seminar and reception where
organizations will offer and educate guests on meaningful
opportunities to enable lawyers to give back to their communities
through projects designed to take fewer than 10 hours. We all know
that Pro Bono Work is rewarding, but BBA Week wanted to see how BBA
Members rewarded themselves in other ways. So we
asked: |
|
"Is there a snack,
treat or something else you reward yourself with after a job well
done? "
If you would like to respond to a future Voices
of the Bar, make sure you send
a headshot, and contact Eric Fullerton at efullerton@bostonbar.org.

Marijane Benner Browne – Goodwin
Procter "Because jobs well done usually involve
the investment of significant time and energy, I find that I
look for ways to take a little extra time to relax - sleeping
in a little later, going for a long leisurely run, slipping
out to attend one of my sons' soccer games or practices or
going out to dinner with family and friends. Of course,
if time is still at a premium, a large warm chocolate chip
cookie certainly provides a welcome reward!" |

Dawn Stolfi Stalenhoef - Lawson &
Weitzen "Since I am always looking for an excuse
to open a nice brut champagne or a full-bodied red wine, I
have pretty loose criteria for what may warrant a
'celebration.' In the case of a true job well done, my
long-standing tradition is dinner at Grill 23 with my
husband. I always order the Slow Roasted Beef
Tenderloin, medium rare. We usually choose a red wine
from Argentina, Spain or Chile, since they are often the only
remaining 'value for the money' bottles on the extensive wine
list. If we're feeling adventurous, we simply describe
our taste (or mood) to Alex DeWinter, the very intuitive Wine
Director, and rely on him to surprise us with something
wonderful. Mmmm...I must be due to celebrate
something..."

Leiha Macauley – Day Pitney "Ice cream.
Any flavor, any time of year, but never with nuts." |
 |
Staci Rubin - Alternatives for Community &
Environment, Inc "When I want to reward myself
for a job well done, I enjoy a long walk around my
neighborhood in East Boston interrupted by a kite-flying
session at Constitution Beach. The day must end with a
home-cooked meal."

Marshal S. Grant - Burns &
Levinson "After a job well done, I go for lobster,
preferably male, even if we have to ship it in." |
 |
Lucinda Rivera - Law Offices of Lucinda
Rivera "My favorite treat is ice cream. But only
coffee chip or some other sort of coffee flavoring. In the ice
cream department, you will never go wrong with Mudpie a
combination of coffee and chocolate and oreos."

Georgia J. Maheras - Health Care For
All "A hot soy latte"
