To collect data, U.S. News – Best Lawyers asked major clients and leading
lawyers to rate the law firms they consider best in various practice areas. In
the end, 9,514 clients – including every Fortune 100 company and 587 of the
Fortune 1000 companies – provided 194,370 firm practice-area evaluations; 6,190
clients provided 11,181 comments about law firm practice areas and individual
lawyers; and 8,842 lawyers provided 594,012 firm practice-area evaluations.
These survey responses were combined with more than 3.1 million evaluations
of individual lawyers in these firms in the most recent Best Lawyers survey of
leading lawyers. Hard numbers were also used to develop the practice area
rankings — data about numbers of lawyers and their previous experience, numbers
of clients within different billing ranges, numbers of transactions and
litigation matters at different dollar levels, pro-bono commitment, diversity,
and other objective data.
"We are very pleased to have achieved high results in the 'Best Law Firms'
survey," said William J. Curry, co-managing partner of Sullivan & Worcester.
"The distinction comes from a combination of hard data, peer reviews and
client assessments and it is a true testament to the firm’s commitment to
excellence and our breadth of expertise."
A sampling of the firm's client comments, which appear on USNews.com,
include:
Mergers & Acquisitions Law
"Sullivan & Worcester worked in a tireless and efficient manner as we
negotiated with three different parties to close a recapitalization in less than
30 days. The fees were very reasonable."
Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization
Law
"Sullivan & Worcester impressed me with its knowledge of the bankruptcy
code, as well as its ability to quickly get its arms around the hierarchical
structure of our creditor mix. This quick and accurate assessment of our
particular situation allowed our company to immediately take control of a
necessary restructuring process."
Tax Law
"In my 25 years in the tax area, I have had the pleasure of working with some
of the best tax professionals in the business. In my opinion, Ameek Ponda of
Sullivan & Worcester is heads above any other tax expert that I have worked
with."
Securitization and Structured Finance Law
"We have been working with this firm for many years. Somehow they make me
feel like I am their only client, even though I know I am
not."
