Burns & Levinson Welcomes Five New Attorneys

Burns & Levinson has announced that Partners George P. Field and Paul Marshall Harris, and Associates Sara A. Decatur, Dr. Shahid Hasan and H. Shirley Huang have joined the Firm. The addition of these attorneys continues our growth plan and strengthens our business law, litigation and intellectual property practices.

George P. Field (Partner) is in the Firm's Business Litigation, Bankruptcy and Intellectual Property/SciTech Groups. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation, dispute resolution and bankruptcy litigation. He has been principal counsel in complex arbitration proceedings, including multi-party international arbitrations. In his appellate work, Mr. Field has successfully established new law in Massachusetts in areas of insurance and commercial real estate by prevailing on issues of first impression under state statutes. Mr. Field has also represented clients in the area of intellectual property in patent infringement, copyright and trademark cases.  He received a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1978 and an A.B. from Harvard College in 1971.  He is a graduate of Boston Latin School.  Mr. Field currently resides in Wellesley, MA.

Paul Marshall Harris (Partner) is in the Firm's Business Litigation Group. He concentrates his practice on advising closely held businesses and advising franchises and distribution businesses.  Mr. Harris  also focuses his practice on representing motor vehicle dealers in all aspects of their business including transactions and dispute resolution.  Mr. Harris advises motor vehicle dealers on a wide variety of issues, including employment, manufacturer-dealer trade relationships and real estate matters.  He has represented automotive industry trade associations in Massachusetts and throughout New England.   Mr. Harris has also served as an expert witness on behalf of motor vehicle dealers.  He received a J.D. from Vermont Law School in 1976 and a B.A. from University of Bridgeport in 1973.  Mr. Harris currently resides in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. 

Sara A. Decatur (Associate) is in the Firm's Business Litigation Group. She focuses on representing individuals and businesses in a variety of disputes including product liability, unfair competition, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties and insurance coverage issues from pre-litigation stages through trial, settlement or alternative dispute resolution. In addition, Ms. Decatur has litigated franchise matters and handled appointment, manufacturer-dealer and employment issues for auto dealerships.  She received a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2001 and a B.A., cum laude, from University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1998.  Ms. Decatur currently resides in Somerville, MA.

Dr. Shahid Hasan (Associate) is in the Firm's Intellectual Property/SciTech and Life Sciences Groups. Dr. Hasan’s practice focuses on biotechnology where he combines his expertise in cancer biology and patent law to draft and prosecute patent applications related to biologics and small molecules and to provide opinions on patent-related matters. He received a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2005. He received a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology in 1994 and a M.S. in Environmental Medicine in 1991 from Hokkaido University in Japan. Dr. Hasan also received a M.S. in Biotechnology in 1987 and a B.S. in Chemistry in 1985 from Aligarh Muslim University in India. He is conversational in Japanese and Hindi.  Dr. Hasan currently resides in Burlington, MA.

H. Shirley Huang (Associate) is in the Firm's Corporate and International Groups. Ms. Huang has experience in drafting and reviewing merger and acquisition agreements, equity investment agreements along with the due diligence process between Taiwan and PRC entities in joint venture deals. Ms. Huang is fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese.  Ms. Huang received a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2010 and a B.A., cum laude, from University of California, Irvine in 2005.   She currently resides in Boston, MA.
