Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid is one of the largest lobbying events at
the State House. Last year, 700 attorneys participated in the Walk, and this
visibility played a critical role in securing level funding for the civil legal
aid line item in FY11, when many line items were reduced significantly or
eliminated.
Our message to legislators will be twofold: 1) maintain funding for the
Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) line item at $9.5 million, and
2) include this issue as a personal legislative priority.
