Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP
partner Robert A. Fishman was named as the "Land Use & Zoning Law Lawyer of
the Year" in Boston for 2011 by Best Lawyers. Fishman chairs the firm's
Land Use, Permitting and Development practice group and has been selected for
inclusion in Best Lawyers since 2006.
Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys based on exhaustive
peer-review surveys with thousands of leading lawyers who confidentially
evaluate their peers. The current edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2011)
is based on more than 3.1 million detailed evaluations. Those being honored as
"Lawyers of the Year" have received particularly high ratings in the surveys and
only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is chosen.
Fishman has extensive experience in land use/environmental permitting,
development, financing, acquisition and disposition, leasing, entity formation,
and conveyancing. He has represented developers, lenders, corporate,
institutional, municipal, and nonprofit clients involved in the development and
financing of mixed use projects, downtown office buildings, suburban industrial
and office parks, shopping centers, hotels, multifamily housing, senior assisted
living housing and community facilities.
Fishman is a former co-chair of the Development and Land Use Committee of the
Boston Bar Association and an active member of the Massachusetts Chapter of
NAIOP, the Association for Commercial Real Estate. He has chaired NAIOP's Public
Affairs Committee and is presently representing NAIOP on the Governor’s Zoning
Reform Task Force.
