The Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court today announced the recent
appointments of Francis S. Moran, Jr. as the Executive Director of the Supreme
Judicial Court and Christine P. Burak as Legal Counsel to the Chief
Justice.
Ronald P. Corbett, Jr., who had been Executive Director since 2000, was
named acting Commissioner of Probation for two years by Chief Justice for
Administration & Management Robert A. Mulligan on January 21, 2011.
Mr. Moran had been serving as Legal Counsel to the Chief Justice since 2007.
As Executive Director, Mr. Moran reports to the Chief Justice and Justices of
the Court and will help the Court to supervise, manage, and coordinate the
day-to-day administrative responsibilities of the Supreme Judicial Court.
Mr. Moran was the Executive Director of the Boston Bar Association and Boston
Bar Foundation from 1990 to 2003. For twenty years he served in the United
States Air Force as a Legal Officer, attaining the rank of Colonel. A
resident of Framingham, Mr. Moran is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross
and Suffolk University Law School.
As Legal Counsel to the Chief Justice, Ms. Burak advises the Chief Justice
and Justices on legal questions and manages the work of the Legal Department.
She has been a lawyer at the Court since 1985. A resident of Needham, Ms.
Burak is a graduate of Assumption College and Boston College Law
School.
