Bingham
McCutchen LLP has named partner Steven Browne the managing partner of its
Boston office.
"Steve Browne is highly respected throughout the firm, and I am pleased that
he has agreed to take over as our Boston office's managing partner," said
Bingham Chairman Jay Zimmerman. "With his enthusiasm and vision, Steve more than
fits the bill to manage our Boston office."
As co-chair of Bingham's Corporate, M&A and Securities Group, Browne has
built a successful private practice in the areas of business and securities law
with extensive work in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, corporate
finance, private equity financing transactions, public offerings, SEC
compliance, and technology transfer and licensing.
"Steve is someone who is very dedicated to the firm's success," said outgoing
Boston managing partner Ralph Martin. "Under his leadership, I am confident that
the Boston office will continue to play an important role in Bingham's growth as
a major national firm with global capabilities."
As Bingham continues to grow, managing partners in various offices play key
roles in the firm's strategy, added Zimmerman. Within 15 years, Bingham has
grown from 175 lawyers in three offices to 1,100 in 13 offices globally. In
2009, Bingham combined with McKee Nelson, a leading New York and Washington,
D.C., firm with world-class structured finance, tax and financial institutions
litigation capabilities. Bingham continued to grow in 2010 with the launch of
its Frankfurt-based financial restructuring office.
"It is an honor to take on a leadership role with the excellent group of
professionals we have in the Boston office," said Browne. "As we move forward, I
will strive to make sure the Boston office remains a growing, thriving business
based on excellence in what we do and respect in how we treat each other."
Bingham offers a broad range of market-leading practices focused on global
financial services firms and Fortune 100 companies. The firm has 1,100 lawyers
in 13 locations in the United States, Europe and Asia.
