Back by popular demand, on February 16, 2011, the Asian American Lawyers of
Massachusetts ("AALAM") held their Fourth Annual Speed Mentoring Night, with 29
mentors, including a couple of judges, and 40 mentees signed up. The
attendees were graciously hosted by Ropes & Gray LLP at their new Boston
offices in the Prudential Tower, who also provided hors d’oeuvres and beverages
for the event. Richard D. Batchelder, Hiring Partner for Ropes & Gray
LLP, extended a warm welcome to all. As in the past, the event consisted
of an opening meet & greet reception followed by rounds of 10-15 minute
mentoring and networking sessions in which law students, recent graduates, and
junior lawyers were paired with more senior attorneys with a variety of
backgrounds (firms of all sizes, in-house attorneys, government and public
sector attorneys, and solo practitioners). The sessions were meant to be
brief and informative and to create a unique opportunity for dialogue with
experienced attorneys from different fields and affiliations.
