On Friday, June 24th the Boston Bar Foundation will be holding
its 5th
Annual Justice is Sweet. The premier
networking event of the summer, Justice is Sweet features 4
chocolate fountains paired with delectable treats, hors d'oeuvres,
drinks and live music, all while supporting the charitable mission
of the Boston Bar
Foundation. Last year more than 300 guests showed up to satisfy
their sweet tooth. Justice is Sweet (and its 5th anniversary) got
BBA Week curious what candy, deserts and sweets members of
the bar used to enjoy back in the day, so we are asked:
"What was your favorite childhood
candy? "
If you would like to respond to a future Voices of
the Bar, make sure you send a headshot, and
contact Eric Fullerton at efullerton@bostonbar.org. |

Alexandra Gorman - Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher
& Flom LLP "Peeps. People either love
them or hate them, but my Easter basket was never complete
without some classic yellow Peeps."

Michael S. Rabieh - Goulston &
Storrs "Frozen blackberries topped with
sugar. If you say this isn't candy, you might be right,
but I bet you’d feel differently if you ever tried it. I
grew up in Louisiana, and we had blackberries growing in our
back yard. We would pick the berries in the summer, put
them in bowls in our freezer for half an hour, and eat them
with sugar sprinkled on top. It now strikes me as a
crime against blackberries, but I loved this dessert as a kid,
and it was a terrific way to beat the heat."

Jennifer Ihns Charles -
Proskauer "Strawberry-flavored Buballoo. It's a
gum with a delicious syrup filling. These remain extremely
popular in Brazil (where I grew up), but I've also seen them
on sale in the US!" |

Deanna G. Sheridan - NORESCO "Like most
kids, I was pretty equal-opportunity when it came to candy, so
picking just one childhood favorite is pretty tough. I
have fond memories of getting lots of candy from the
concession stand at my brothers’ Little League games -
two of my favorites were green apple flavored Jolly Rancher
Stix and Laser Disc Sour Gum. Not what I would choose now, but
they were great back then!"
