The Lawyers Orchestra will perform its annual summer concert at 7:30 on July
20, 2011 at historic Faneuil Hall. The concert is free and open to the
public. The concert will feature two celebrated soloists: Richard
Sebring, Principal Horn of the Boston Pops, will play Mozart's Horn Concerto No.
3; Hon. Francis X. Spina, Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court, will
narrate a musical setting of the poem "Casey at the Bat." The concert will
also feature classical works by Dvorak and Beethoven, as well as pop favorites
by Frank Loesser, Richard Rogers, and Johann Strauss Jr.
Founded in 1985 under the auspices of the Boston Bar Association, the
orchestra has flourished under the musical direction of Beverly Taylor.
Each summer concert gives an opportunity for lawyers, judges, and other
professionals to fulfill their love of orchestra performance. During the
year chamber musicians from the orchestra have provided music for events of The
American Bar Association, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, the Massachusetts Law
Reform Institute, numerous law firms, and the Boston Bar
Association.
