This year's Annual
Meeting will be held at the Westin Copley Hotel on October 13, 2011. The BBA is
excited to welcome Harvard Law School Jesse Climenko Professor of Law Charles
Ogletree to deliver the keynote address. Professor Ogletree is one of the
most prominent legal theorists of our time. An award winning author and
head of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice, he examines
highly complex and controversial issues of race, racism and discrimination and
works to ensure that the justice system affords equal protection to all
individuals. His most recent book, The Presumption of Guilt,
explores the issues surrounding the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis
Gates, Jr., and examines the continued impact of race on American
society.
Professor Ogletree has been named one of the 50 Most
Influential Minority Lawyers in America by the National Law Journal, was awarded
the ABA Spirit of Excellence Award in 2009 and received the City of Boston's
first ever Rosa Parks Civil Rights Award.
