Partner Rejoins Choate Hall & Stewart's Healthcare Group

Choate Hall & Stewart LLP has announced that Julia R. Hesse has rejoined the firm as a partner in its Healthcare Group.  Prior to joining Choate, Ms. Hesse was associate general counsel at Tufts Medical Center, Inc. handling corporate transactional, not-for-profit governance, and regulatory matters, as well as serving as general legal counsel for their New England Quality Care Alliance, a management services organization representing almost 1,500 physicians. 

As a partner in Choate's Healthcare Group, Ms. Hesse will continue to focus her practice on a full range of health care related regulatory matters and corporate transactions for private equity firms who invest in health care businesses and for-profit organizations as well as academic medical centers, community hospitals, and other health care technology and service providers. 

Ms. Hesse began her legal career at Choate in 2002 as an associate in the firm's Healthcare Group before joining Ropes & Gray’s Health Care Practice in 2005.

Ms. Hesse is co-editor of the Boston Bar Association Health Law Reporter and was a community member of Massachusetts General Hospital's Institutional Review Board for five years.  She received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2001.  She also received her M. Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania Center for Bioethics in 2001, where she was managing editor and staff member of American Journal of Bioethics.  Ms. Hesse received her B.A., cum laude with honors, in economics from Williams College in 1995.  She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
