On Wednesday, August 24th the BBA's New Lawyers Section will be holding a happy hour for recent law school grads who have completed the bar exam. The event's theme got BBA Week wondering what our members did when they found out they passed the bar, so we asked:

"How did you celebrate when you completed (or found out you passed) the bar exam?"

If you would like to respond to a future Voices of the Bar, make sure you send a headshot, and contact Eric Fullerton at efullerton@bostonbar.org.

Paul C. Connors - Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP
"I flew out to Portland, Oregon to meet up with a friend from college.  We celebrated my completion of the bar exams, and his triumphant return to the east coast, with a three-week, cross-country drive featuring fun stops in ten cities for mini reunions with old friends.  It was a blast."

Audrey Jane Murga - Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP
"Following the bar exam, I had dinner (and tequila) with two girlfriends who had also just completed the exam, along with the men in our lives who so wonderfully put up with our neurotic stress all summer.  I spent the next few days preparing for my wedding.  My honeymoon in Maui was all the more relaxing because the bar exam was over!"

Shannon Jamieson – New Leaf Legal
"There are certain things I've always wanted to say in life.  One thing is 'Let's make it a true daily double, Alex!' (which I haven't gotten to say yet), but the other I DID get to say after I took the bar.  I was walking out of the Bar Exam and someone asked me 'What you you going to do now?' and I replied with all the enthusiasm I could muster, 'I'm going to Disney World!!'

And go to Disney World I did.  For an entire week, I got to forget all about studying, job hunting, and responsibility and simply bask in the pure magical joy that comes with being at the Happiest Place on Earth."

Adam Hopkins – Donovan Hatem
"Honestly, I do not remember. The letter came in the mail the week my son was born. I guess my wife and I were so wrapped up in celebrating becoming new parents we forgot to celebrate passing the bar!"

Elena Tsizer - Law Office of Elena Tsizer
"Amazingly, completing the bar exam did not bring as much of a relief as I expected; I just remember having a lot of time on my hands and thinking whether I passed or not, so I invented a home renovation project that took most of the month following the bar exam.  Passing, on the other hand, was a blast! The long months of waiting, knowing that my colleague working with me passed while my notice did not come yet, having my husband open the envelope and read the letter line by line to me when I was at work – all of it resulted in a great celebration with family and friends that was turned into a delayed Halloween party."

Ben Montgomery – Partners Healthcare
"I found out I passed the Massachusetts bar while I was in Manhattan.  My dad called and told me 'the envelope' had arrived.  I was so elated that I did allow myself to relish the moment for five entire minutes...before re-burying myself in a cramped conference room for a doc review project."

Christina T. Vidoli - Margolis & Bloom, LLP
"After completing day 2 of the Bar Exam, that night I flew to Italy and began my vacation in San Gimignano - a small village where my family is from.  Having wanted to visit for many years, the minute my plane landed, I didn't give the Bar another thought!"
