On Monday, September 12, the BBA will be co-sponsoring The Impact of Wal-Mart Stores v. Dukes on Class Action and Civil Rights Cases with the Women's Bar Association and the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, where an expert panel will cover the outcome of and reasoning behind Dukes as well as its implications for class action and civil rights cases. Considering Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer, there was no way BBA Week could ask a question that did not involve shopping, so we asked:

"Where is your favorite place to shop? "

"My first stop for any and all shopping trips is usually www.etsy.com. If you like vintage or handmade items, Etsy is the world's best flea market, always open and at your fingertips! I got married about a month ago and my husband and I purchased many of our wedding-related items--table decorations, invitation designs, personalized bridal party gifts, and even my vintage wedding dress!--from Etsy. I also appreciate knowing that my money is supporting small business owners and local artisans."

Mina Makarious - Anderson Kreiger
"Recently, my favorite place to shop has been my parents' basement and garage.  Between my dad's love for yard sales and his fascination with gadgets, a lot of stuff has collected there over the years.  There are tools, sporting goods, magazines, kitchen stuff, cassettes, and dozens and dozens of books to choose from.  Although I grew up seeing these items around me, the old set of drill bits and the extra pan seemed utterly useless then.  Now that my wife and I have a place of our own, those same items seem like just what we were looking for for this project or that one. "

Sheryl A. Howard - Krokidas & Bluestein
"One of my favorite stores is Salmagundi in Jamaica Plain for scarves, interesting accessories, cute umbrellas and (or course) hats.  The owners clearly know (and love) their products and suppliers.  No one who enters can resist trying on at least one of Salmagundi’s amazing collection of hats."

Stefan L. Jouret - Jouret & Samito LLP
"For me, places like REI, Eastern Mountain Sports or Hilton's Tent City jump to mind.  Being there means I'm looking to gear up for another hiking or camping trip and that’s a good thing!"

Mary K. Y. Lee - Attorney At Law
"On a clear, beautiful summer Friday, my favorite place to shop is Haymarket near the North End. There is always lots of people, energy and excitement as the open stall vendors shout over the top of their voices "One dollar, one dollar....."

Elena Ayot - NBCUniversal Media, LLC
"Paris, without a doubt, is my favorite place to shop.  They have fantastic deals in June and January there.  I have stumbled across fabulous designer finds, as well as one of a kind vintage pieces.  The key is to do like the Parisians and get there a few days before "les soldes" start in order to scope everything out.  There is something to be found for everyone.  And certainly the VAT refund (for us Americans) on the way home can make it all worth it."

Lindsey A Burton - Litle & Co
"If I had to pick one place, it would be Anthropologie. If I didn’t have to look like a serious lawyer sometimes, I would probably wear their clothes all the time!"
