Sunstein Announces New Life Sciences Patent Attorney

Sunstein Kann Murphy & Timbers LLP, a leading intellectual property law firm based in Boston, has announced that Isabelle A.S. Blundell, Ph.D. has joined the firm as Counsel and member of its Life Sciences Practice Group.

Dr. Blundell has 15 years experience practicing patent law in law firm and corporate settings in the chemical and life sciences. She handles patent prosecution matters, portfolio development, product clearance, intellectual property due diligence, and agreements involving transfer of intellectual property.

Fields in which Dr. Blundell has prosecuted patents include chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biochemistry, diagnostics, and medical devices.  Some specific technologies she has handled include small molecules for immune mediated diseases, solid organ transplant, neglected diseases, pharmaceutical additives for drug delivery, and synthetic polymers and biomaterials for tissue healing, cosmetic and orthopedic applications.

Prior to joining Sunstein, Dr. Blundell served as Senior Patent Counsel at a leading life sciences company for nine years and before then was an associate and technology specialist at a large Boston-based law firm.

Dr. Blundell obtained her Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the Université de Paris Sud and was a post-doctoral fellow at Rutgers University. She also was an industrial post-doctoral fellow at a life sciences company where she conducted custom organic syntheses for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.  She received her J.D. cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.
