Derek Davis, Esq., a
shareholder in Greenberg Traurig's Boston
office, together with the Boston University
Alumni Association , co-hosted a reception on Saturday, October 15 to
celebrate the official dedication of the Martin Luther King Memorial. The
reception, which was held in Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. office,
brought together alumni, civil rights leaders and a host of dignitaries who
continue to preserve the legacy of one Boston University's greatest alumnus, Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King went to Boston University in 1951, searching for a multicultural
community and a setting for his study of ethics and philosophy that would steer
his civil rights work. He later became "Dr. King" by earning a Ph.D. in
systematic theology at BU in 1955. The official dedication marked the 48th
anniversary of Dr. King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech. The National
Mall, for the first time, now houses a monument for a man not elected to the
U.S. Presidency.
