E. Macey Russell, a partner in the
Major Commercial Litigation Group at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, has been
appointed to serve as a member of the Suffolk University Board of Trustees and
the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Board of Overseers.
As a member of Suffolk University’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Russell will help
ensure that the university fosters a compelling learning environment while
upholding its founding principle of equal access for all. Mr. Russell has
been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee of Suffolk University Law School
since 2005. He received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in
1983.
In his role as an Overseer of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Mr.
Russell will act as a goodwill ambassador, highlighting the importance of
BIDMC’s mission to local communities and strengthening the medical center’s
ability to advance its mission through philanthropy.

Governor Deval Patrick recently appointed Mr. Russell as chairman of the
Judicial Nominating Commission, which is responsible for overseeing the process
by which judicial candidates are recommended to the Governor for
selection. Mr. Russell also serves as the Co-Chair of the Boston Bar
Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Section, as well as on the Executive
Committee of the Boston Lawyers Group, an organization that promotes diversity
in Boston’s legal community. Mr. Russell serves on the Board of Fellows
for Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He received his B.A. from
Trinity College in 1980.
At Choate, Mr. Russell focuses his practice on business and commercial
litigation, with an emphasis on the representation of corporations, financial
institutions, and banks in contract and securities disputes. He also
co-chairs the firm’s Diversity Committee and is a member of the Hiring
Committee.
