New England Law | Boston has again been named one of the Top
Places to Work in Massachusetts in the annual Boston Globe survey. The 2011
Top Places to Work listing appears online and in a magazine supplement
published in the Sunday Globe on November 6. This is the second year in a
row that the law school has been included on the list.
The law school is
number 6 on the “small employers” list and is the only institution of higher
education on the total list of 100 workplaces of all sizes this year.
Participating employees were asked to grade their organization’s performance
according to distinct statements, ranging from “New ideas are encouraged at this
company ’’ to “It’s easy to tell my boss the truth.” In addition,
employers were invited to complete a survey on workplace practices. To
compile the ranking, each employer was measured according to six factors:
direction, execution, managers, career, conditions, and pay and
benefits.
“This award lets the world know what a special place this
is for those of us who work here,” said Dean John F. O’Brien. “It is not only
beneficial to attracting the very best candidates for employee openings but also
conveys that we are a community that cares deeply about our work and,
especially, about the students whom we serve. Law school is a challenging
experience, but I believe that the efforts of our faculty and staff help remove
some of the potential stress and frustrations and allow our students to focus on
their learning and their professional development.”
“I’d like to
extend my congratulations to New England Law | Boston for its inclusion in the
2011 issue of the Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work,” stated Globe publisher
Chris Mayer, “and for so clearly demonstrating effective ways to create a
positive work environment.”
