Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to
announce that William E. Kelly, a partner in the firm’s Boston office, is among
the recipients of the annual AIDS Action Committee “Commitment to Action”
awards.
“I have always admired AIDS Action for being not only a service provider, but
an advocacy organization dealing with larger issues concerning people living
with or affected by HIV and AIDS,” said Mr. Kelly.
As a member of the AIDS Action Board of Directors since 2005 and a supporter
of the agency since the 1980s, Mr. Kelly was honored for his longstanding
contributions to the fight against AIDS. Mr. Kelly, an attorney in the firm’s
Global Business & Transactions practice, was specifically highlighted for
his support during the merger of AIDS Action and Cambridge Cares About AIDS in
2010 which was noted as “critical to its success.”
He led a team of firm attorneys in the drafting and negotiating of the
Agreement and Plan of Merger, reviewed contracts, conducted due diligence, and
created a set of bylaws for the new, merged organization. As a result, AIDS
Action is able to serve more people and to do it more efficiently and is
positioned to create more collaboration among providers and social justice
organizations serving people with HIV and AIDS, which is at the heart of his
involvement with the agency.
AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, Inc. is New England’s first and
largest AIDS service organization. The Committee’s mission is to stop the
epidemic and related health inequities by eliminating new infections, maximizing
healthier outcomes of those infected and at risk, and attacking the root causes
of HIV/AIDS.
