Mercedes, a partner in the Business Law Department at Edwards Wildman
, has been recognized as one of the “40 under 40”
professionals by the Boston Business Journal. Mercedes was honored for his
achievements as an attorney, as well as his impressive role in helping the
community grow through charity work.
Mercedes practices in the area of corporate law, concentrating on corporate
finance and private equity. A driving force in the firm’s burgeoning Latin
America practice, he has advised clients in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican
Republic, Brazil and other Latin America countries in a number of advisory
capacities with respect to investments and compliance in the region.
Mercedes is a 2012 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity
(LCLD), a national organization formed to advance diversity in the legal
profession, made up of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing
partners. In addition, he was recently elected as a board member of the United
South End Settlements, which builds a strong community by improving the
education, health, safety and economic security of low-income individuals and
families in Boston’s South End/Lower Roxbury.
In June 2011, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly also named Mercedes to its list of
20 “rising stars.”
