The BBF Presents a Pair of Aces - 2014 Casino Night Co-Chairs

Save the date and dust off your lucky charm—the 2014 Boston Bar Foundation’s annual Casino Night fundraiser for Summer Jobs will take place on Thursday, March 27th at 6pm at 16 Beacon Street. Click here to buy your ticket today. This year’s fundraising steering committee will be chaired by Jonathan Anderman of Holland & Knight LLP and Adam Veness of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.

“Casino Night is my favorite BBF event of the year, and like all BBF events, it supports an important cause” said Veness. “I have previously served on the committee for Casino Night and I hope to make it even more successful this year.”

A new twist at this year’s Casino Night - 100% of the proceeds will be dedicated to the M. Ellen Carpenter Fund, which benefits the BBA Summer Jobs Program. The Program places Boston youth in full-time, paid summer jobs with area law firms, non-profit and government organizations. Last year the BBA placed 58 students in law firms throughout the city, thanks in part to the BBF, which funded 13 non-profit and government jobs.

“The BBA Summer Jobs Program directly touches and enhances lives of young people throughout our city.” Anderman said. “Contributions from Casino Night will not only help develop and retain young talent in Boston, it will also directly impact many individuals in a meaningful way.”

In its 5th year, Casino Night remains one of the BBF’s most popular events. Over 300 lawyers and law students fill the offices at 16 Beacon Street which is turned into a two-story Casino for the event—complete with craps tables, roulette, a DJ and more.

“Casino Night is truly a unique event,” said Anderman. “It presents the opportunity to spend meaningful time with old friends, colleagues or even new connections in a fun and casual setting.”

If for no other reason, Veness suggest people attend purely for the entertainment. “People should attend Casino Night because it is a great way to give back while enjoying food and drinks with other Boston attorneys gambling away thousands of dollars of fake money.”

Last year sponsors and attendees raised more than $40,000 for the Boston Bar Foundation. To learn more about how to sponsor this highly anticipated event click here or contact Erica Southerland at 617-778-1930.
