BBA to Honor Chief Justice Ireland with Citation at June 12th Event

On June 12th, 2014, the Boston Bar Association will honor Chief Justice Roderick Ireland with the Citation of Judicial Excellence at a reception to take place at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel from 6-9pm.  The event is free and open to all BBA members; however, space is limited and RSVPs are required.

Chief Justice Ireland, who announced his retirement earlier this week, was the first African-American justice on the Supreme Judicial Court and has been responsible for leading court reform efforts, advocating for greater funding for the court system, and strengthening the relationship between the state legislature and the judiciary. “We are honored to present Chief Justice Ireland with the BBA Citation for Judicial Excellence,” states BBA President Paul T. Dacier. “His steadfast efforts to maintain the public's trust and confidence in our state courts have been remarkable. As a leader of the courts, he has embodied what the Constitution calls for: a true judge who shows restraint and ensures that the rights of all are protected and adjudicated. Chief Justice Ireland is a great man who I am proud to call my friend.”

Please join us as we honor a true leader, and thank him for his extraordinary contributions as Chief Justice. To RSVP, click here.
