This summer, the BBA will be organizing several lunches
for attorneys looking to explore different career options. Typically limited to
our Summer Judicial Interns, this year we are inviting everyone to get the
inside scoop by joining us for our Summer Career Series!
The first of these career
development lunches took place on Thursday, June 5 at the BBA. This first lunch
focused on Prosecution and Defense. Christina Miller, Chief of District Courts
and Community Prosecutions for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office,
and Committee for Public Counsel Services Supervising Attorney Lisa Medeiros,
who oversees public defenders in the Roxbury, Dorchester, and West Roxbury
District Courts, served as insiders for an informative, lighthearded
In addition to learning about the paths that led them to
their respective careers, those assembled were also able to watch Lisa and
Christina interact. Impressed by the air of professionalism and civility between
the two "adversaries," BU Law student Tyler Patterson reflected that both
Christina and Lisa "stressed how important it is for lawyers to be collegial and
be able to maintain a professional relationship no matter the disposition of
their clients." New England Law | Boston student Timothy J. Arnold said that
having the opportunity to hear from Christina and Lisa "added a human element to
the sometimes “behind the curtain” criminal system."
Thanks again to Christina Miller and Lisa Medeiros for offering
their perspectives and entertaining stories their work. The next lunch program,
It Really Like to Go Solo?," will take place on Wednesday, June 25 at 16
Beacon St. Check out the BBA Calendar for more upcoming programs.
