Schmidt & Federico Becomes BBA Sponsor Firm

The Boston Bar Association is pleased to announce that Schmidt & Federico, P.C. joined as a sponsor firm, supporting the BBA's mission to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, and serve the community at large.

With more than 100 years of combined legal experience, the attorneys of Schmidt & Federico have represented clients throughout Massachusetts in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, same sex marriage, and prenuptial agreements as well as trusts & estates, probate law and litigation.

Since its launch in 1994 by Mary H. Schmidt, Phyllis E. Federico, and the late Richard D. Packenham, the firm, located in Boston’s historic Back Bay, has nearly tripled its legal work force.

“Schmidt & Federico has always valued the mission and work of the Boston Bar Association; it is ingrained in the culture of our firm and demonstrated by the many hours firm lawyers have dedicated to serving on and leading BBA programs,” said Managing Partner William Schmidt. “We believe providing excellent representation to our clients requires striving to achieve the highest levels of integrity and ability. The BBA sets those same standards for the legal profession and the communities it serves. We look forward to continuing and deepening our entire firm's work with the BBA as a sponsor firm.”

Lawyers of Schmidt & Federico have served on BBA Subcommittees and BBA Steering Committees as well as presenting at “Brown Bag” and CLE programs. Jennifer Sevigney Durand, a partner at Schmidt & Federico, currently serves on the BBA Council and the BBA Executive Committee.

The firm of Schmidt & Federico, P.C. has earned the AV® Rating in the Martindale-Hubbell® Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers™ and has therefore been designated by their colleagues as pre-eminent in their field. Schmidt & Federico has also been recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of Best Law Firms, and its attorneys are regularly chosen as Super Lawyers®.

The Boston Bar Association traces its origins to meetings convened by John Adams, who provided pro bono representation to the British soldiers prosecuted for the Boston Massacre and went on to become the nation’s second president. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, serve the community at large and promote diversity and inclusion.
