Boston Bar Mourns Passing of Chief Justice Hennessey
BOSTON, Mar. 8 -- Upon learning of the death of the Honorable Edward F. Hennessey, a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court and a winner of the BBA’s Haskell Cohn Distinguished Service Award in 1989, BBA President Jack Cinquegrana issued the following statement:
“We have lost a pillar of the bar and of the judiciary. Massachusetts’ judicial history will mark Chief Justice Hennessey as one of the great justices of the 20th century. While he lives on through his clear, scholarly and dispassionate opinions, he will also be sorely missed as a staunch advocate before the legislature on behalf of the courts and as a widely respected representative of the Massachusetts courts on national judicial bodies.”
