Governor Patrick Will Address 1700 Lawyers and Judges Night of May 3
BOSTON, May 2 – The Boston Bar Association (BBA) today announced that Governor Deval Patrick will deliver the featured address at the BBA’s annual Law Day Dinner on the evening of May 3 at the Boston Marriott, Copley Place. The event is expected to draw some 1700 lawyers and judges for an evening of professional camaraderie and reflection on important issues touching on the ideals of the legal profession.
Deval Patrick was elected to the BBA’s governing Council in the spring of 1993, but left Boston to assume the nation’s top civil rights post in Washington, D.C. before his term began. In 1997, Deval Patrick came to the BBA to address a group of Boston high school students participating in the BBA’s Summer Jobs Program.
Honorees at the BBA Law Day Dinner will include:
- U.S. District Court Chief Judge Mark Wolf and U.S. District Court Judges Reginald Lindsay and Patti Saris for their work on the Nelson Fellows Program;
- Chief Justice for Administration and Management of the Massachusetts Trial Court Robert Mulligan for implementing performance based measurements in the courts.
- Forty lawyers who are providing pro bono legal representation to Guantanamo Bay detainees.
