Boston Bar Honors Representative DeLeo

BOSTON – The Boston Bar Association today will present Representative Robert A. DeLeo (D-Winthrop), Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means with the Distinguished Legislator Award at the BBA Annual Meeting Luncheon at the Sheraton Boston Hotel.

In honoring Chairman DeLeo with the award, BBA President Tony Doniger cited his vigorous advocacy for protecting access to justice and improving the administration of the Massachusetts judicial system.  Chairman DeLeo has championed adequate funding for civil legal services to the poor.  Most recently Chairman DeLeo provided essential leadership in overriding the Governor’s veto to restore $10 million in vital funding for the Massachusetts Trial Court and more than $420,000 in funding for the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
