Boston Bar Creates Diversity and Inclusion Section
BOSTON – Underscoring the commitment of the Boston Bar Association to build on the important work of the BBA Diversity Leadership Task Force and the BBA Diversity Committee, BBA President Kathy Weinman today announced the creation of the BBA Diversity and Inclusion Section. The action announced today has been endorsed by the BBA’s governing Council, and will be to bring to 21 the total number of BBA Sections.
“Over the years the BBA has sponsored a variety of activities and initiatives to help foster a diverse and inclusive bar,” said Weinman. “Creating a Section is a strategic move putting all diversity and inclusion initiatives under one umbrella, allowing for new synergies and coordination of resources – while at the same time allowing for collaboration with other Sections.”
The Diversity and Inclusion Section will be co-chaired by Brent L. Henry, Vice President & General Counsel, Partners HealthCare and Jack Cinquegrana, a partner at Choate Hall & Stewart, chair of his firm's Government Enforcement & Compliance Group, and BBA past President.
Among the Section’s first responsibilities will be to launch a new Group Mentoring Program that will draw a diverse group of younger members to the BBA. Its mission will be to develop diverse, new leaders.
The Section’s first program, “Leading the Way to a Successful Career: What’s After Law School?” will be held on January 15 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the John Adams Courthouse.
