Boston Bar Foundation 2007/08 IOLTA Grant RFP Available

The Boston Bar Foundation (BBF) is pleased to announce the availability of applications for the 2007/2008 IOLTA Grants Program.

In Massachusetts, the Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Account (IOLTA) Committee of the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) collects interest income from participating financial institutions and distributes that income to three charitable entities – the Boston Bar Foundation being one of the charitable entities.

Per SJC rule, use of IOLTA funds by grant making entities is limited to two purposes:
1) provision of civil legal services to low-income individuals, underserved and special needs populations and 2) improvements in the administration of justice.  The BBF invites applications from eligible non-profit organizations for programs and projects that advance these objectives.

Last year, the BBF distributed $1,053,521 in IOLTA grants to 43 local non profit organizations that provide civil legal services to low-income and underserved individuals in Greater Boston, or that demonstrably improve the administration of justice in the Commonwealth.

Complete grant applications must be received by the BBF on or before 5:00pm on Friday May 25, 2007.  Please deliver or mail applications to:
