John G. Brooks Honored As Champion of Legal Aid
Last Friday, some 300 members of the legal community gathered at the State House to honor John G. Brooks, a BBA past president who served as the first Chairman of the Boston Legal Assistance Project; President of Greater Boston Legal Services; President of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association; and the Legal Advocacy and Resource Center.* The event was convened by the Boston Bar Foundation with assistance from John's law firm, Peabody & Arnold LLP. Formal tributes were presented by Justice Robert J. Cordy of the SJC; Rep. Alice H. Peisch; Harvey Weiner of Peabody & Arnold LLP*; retired Justice Howard H. Dana of Maine's high court; Robert Sable of Greater Boston Legal Services*; Nick Littlefield of Foley Hoag LLP*; and Ashley H. Brooks of McCarter & English.
