Anita Sharma Will Receive BBA Award

When Anita Sharma receives the celebrated John G. Brooks Public Service Award at the BBA’s Annual Meeting Luncheon on October 4, she will be honored for her tireless efforts to bring comfort and hope to those seeking asylum in the United States. Anita, the Asylum Staff Attorney for the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) project, is a mentor for hundreds of pro bono lawyers representing the PAIR project’s clients, with an active caseload of over 500. She has also devoted her time to successfully representing numerous individuals, helping clients around the world find safe homes. Anita worked on human rights issues in India before joining the PAIR project in 2002. Helping others is her life calling.

The John G. Brooks Public Service Award is given to a member of the bar employed by a public or non-profit agency who demonstrates outstanding performance in representing low-income clients.
