This program, designed for family law, criminal law, and general practitioners, will review criminal issues that arise during the course of representing parties in family law cases, and how best to address them. Learn how district court and probate court judges view the cross-over of divorce/custody and domestic violence issues, and how to competently address them in either forum.  In addition, the panel will address what issues to look for and where to obtain advice in dealing with them. Attendees will hear from forensic psychologist, Dr. John Daignault, frequently called upon to give expert testimony, together with judicial faculty who will offer practical tips for lawyers involved in such cases.

Director at Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, will discuss Web 2.0 which is a broad reference to the web-based technologies that survived and flourished since the dotcom bubble burst in 2001.  Also known as the "Participatory Web", these new technologies provide tools and platforms that enable users to tag, blog, comment, modify, augment, select from, rank, and generally talk back to the contributions of other users and the general world community.  Web 2.0 companies have established exciting new ways for people to network and to collaborate.  This presentation provides a brief introduction to Web 2.0 and a discussion of how these technologies might impact the business of law and of your clients.

an independent appraiser, will address how to structure stock-related compensation to comply with IRC Section 409A and avoid employee penalty taxes. In particular, the program will focus on methods of valuing the stock of privately-held corporations, including the use of valuation safe harbors under the Section 409A proposed regulations. If final Section 409A regulations have been issued by the date of the program, those regulations will be discussed.

Practical Issues Involved in Permitting and Developing
Kenneth A. Reich of Wolf, Block, Schorr & Solis-Cohen LLP will discuss practical issues involved in permitting and developing. Mr. Reich will discuss his experience with a coal-fired power plant in Montana. The issues involved include mercury regulation and control, greenhouse gas emission control, and the interplay between the proposed coal-fired power plant and wind power in the region.  Although the project is occurring in the northwest portion of the country, certain lessons transcend geographic lines.
