Please Complete Your Judicial Performance Evaluations

As part of its commitment to maintaining and preserving a fair and impartial judicial system, the Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee has sent questionnaires to approximately 7,700 attorneys and court employees in Middlesex County.  The program, which will evaluate 53 judges in the District Court, Juvenile Court, Housing Court, and Probate and Family Court, relies heavily on a high rate of participation and timely responses from lawyers who have appeared in court multiple times in Middlesex County during the last two years.  Attorneys whose e-mail addresses are on file at the Supreme Judicial Court will be able to complete their evaluations online.  To file an e-mail address with the Supreme Judicial Court for future evaluations please visit http://judeval.sjc.state.ma.us/?go=reg.  The deadline for returning surveys is January 12, 2007.

All questionnaires and resulting reports are confidential and will not contain the names of respondents.  Judges will be evaluated on their knowledge of the law, temperament on the bench, courtroom control, treatment of litigants, witnesses, jurors, and attorneys; fairness and impartiality; and timeliness in issuing written decisions.

If you have any questions concerning questioners and evaluations, please contact Supreme Judicial Court Judicial Performance Evaluation Coordinator, Mona Hochberg, (617) 557-1156 or mona.hochberg@sjc.state.ma.us.  For other information please contact the Public Information Officer of the Supreme Judicial Court, Joan Kenney, (617) 557-1113 or joan.kenney@sjc.state.ma.us
