Friends and Fishers of Edgartown Great Pond v. DEP
Rroundtable discussion of the issues involved in the Friends & Fishers of Edgartown Great Pond v. DEP case, in which the SJC upheld the DEP’s issuance of a groundwater discharge permit to the Edgartown Wastewater Commission for the operation of a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Joining us will be the four attorneys who participated in the Friends & Fishers lawsuit, including: Douglas H. Wilkins of Anderson & Kreiger LLP , who represented plaintiffs Friends & Fishers; Michael S. Thinking Outside the Box in Crafting Family Support Orders
We will discuss child support for dual income families, how issues of disabilities for parents and children can be treated and how to craft support orders in cases that fall within the Child Support Guidelines for income but where parents essentially share parenting time. We will also examine the tax implications of allocating support between alimony and child support as well as a presentation of after tax dollars available to families. Roundtable Discussion
Eileen P. McAnneny, Vice President of Government Affairs with the Associated Industries of Massachusetts (A.I.M.), will provide an update concerning A.I.M.’s legislative agenda with respect to tax issues.  Please arrive before noon, as Ms. McAnneny is available to meet with us until about 12:30 pm.  Afterwards, we will have any open conversation and will discuss current developments in state and local tax, including the Appellate Tax Board’s latest findings of fact and report.

Please join us for a tour of the J. Joseph Moakley Federal Courthouse and Library of the United States Courts in the First Circuit.  The tour will be conducted by Discovering Justice: The James D. St. Clair Court Education Project, and will be followed by an introduction to the Library led by one of the staff reference librarians. Those interested should meet outside the security desk at the J. Joseph Moakley Courthouse.  All visitors over the age of 18 must have two forms of identification with them, one containing a photograph.  Electronic devices, including cell phones, cameras, and portable music players, are NOT permitted in the courthouse.  Additionally, containers with liquids, such as water bottles, will not be allowed to pass through security.
