"What person or event inspired you to become a lawyer??"

Timothy M. Murphy, Bromberg & Sunstein LLP
"I majored in engineering in college, and I don’t think my dad—who was a New York City police officer—could really relate to engineering as a profession.  He might have thought that I was studying how to drive trains!  When I told him I was thinking of going to law school after I got my engineering degree, he became as excited as I had ever seen him.  So that really encouraged me to go to law school.  Now, I’m a patent attorney.  And although my dad probably has no idea what I spend my days actually doing, I know he's proud of me."

Sam Kim, Gesmer Updegrove LLP
"I was nine.  During Sunday service at church, images of people around the world suffering from injustice, poverty, discrimination and violence were shown to me and I was asked 'Who will help them?'  I responded silently 'I want to' and concluded that I would pursue law as means to help."

Dawn M. Curry, Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP
"I was - and continue to be - inspired by the profession itself.  I was not motivated to become a lawyer by a single factor; what I really sought was the opportunity to work with smart, talented people in a profession that would continually challenge and engage me.  Now, I am continually inspired by the caliber of people I work with and how much I learn every day."

Lawrence DiCara, Nixon Peabody LLP
"Robert Kennedy.  His brief career, especially his efforts on behalf of civil rights during his years as Attorney General, had a significant impact on me. From a distance, it appeared he was fearless. His 1968 campaign poster holds a position of prominence in my office at Nixon Peabody."
