And Now. . . The Winners of the ALM Tech Competition According to an article in The Centre Daily Times, BBA Sponsor Firms Goodwin Procter LLP, Ropes & Gray LLP and Duane Morris LLP were among the winners of the Fifth Annual Technology Competition. The awards, which recognize innovation in the use of technology, are sponsored by American Lawyer Media, the publisher of 33 national and regional magazines and newspapers, including The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal and Real Estate Forum. Goodwin Procter, which won the Most Innovative Use of Technology by a Law Firm, was lauded for its iStaff system, which matches attorneys and staff to new client matters. Ropes & Gray, the winner of the Most Innovative Use of Technology During a Trial, uses innovative patent trial systems, which provide infrastructure and support for complicated presentations in cases. John Sroka, chief information officer of Duane Morris, was named IT Director of the Year for his work tracking the firm’s pro bono assignments, integrating specialized and back office systems, and helping the firm switch to VOIP.
