Assistance for Struggling Homeowners Attorneys whose clients may be struggling with high-rate or "subprime" mortgages and the possibility of foreclosure can point them to a program called the Mortgage Relief Fund, organized by five large banks and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The program aims to help borrowers who are holding high-rate or resetting subprime mortgages refinance into a more affordable loan, if they meet several criteria and can support the new loan going forward. Clients can visit www.MortgageReliefFund.com to find out more about the program and the ways to contact the participating banks. For more general information on these issues, your clients can visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston's consumer resource for mortgages and foreclosures, www.TheInformedHomebuyer.org. |
