Suffolk Superior Court Bench-Bar-Clerk Meeting: Technology in the Courtroom

The next Suffolk Superior Court Bench-Bar-Clerk meeting will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 in the Thorndike Library on the 13th floor of the Suffolk County Courthouse, 3 Pemberton Square.  Attendees are welcome to bring (or not bring) lunch.

Regional Administrative Justice John Cratsley and other members of the Court currently sitting in Suffolk will attend, along with representatives of the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association.

At the meeting, we will continue our discussion about the use of PowerPoint and other computer technologies in the courtroom, both at trial and in motions sessions.  In addition to whether PowerPoint can or can't be used effectively in court, we hope to spend time discussing what limits, if any, should be put on the use of PowerPoint at trial or in oral argument, and a protocol for how the contents are screened for objections before trial.

Attached is a discussion by the Federal Judicial Center of some of the issues presented by electronic presentations.

The meeting is open to the public, but, as always, it will be useful to get a sense of who will be attending, so please e-mail Andrew Rainer if you will be able to come.
